*TO CLEAR* 2017 Kinetic-One K1-55/80 Carbon Clincher wheels (alloy braking)

Product information

INTENDED USE: Our "Max speed /Max versatility" carbon wheelset.  This wheelset is ideal for Time Trials and Triathlons, from Sprints right through to flatter Iron distance events.  With alloy braking surfaces you don't need special brake pads and braking is better than with Full-carbon clinchers (particularly on very long descents)

Your wheels will be handbuilt to order here in the uk by Andy Morgan, owner and founder of k1 wheels. Turnaround time is 4-7 days!

These are our stunning 2017 K1 Carbon 80mm (rear) / 55mm (front) deep section 700c clincher wheels (for inner tubes and tyres). For Road or Time Trial or Tri bikes. They have alloy braking surfaces.  Upgraded from the 2016 model thanks to new carbon lay up innovations plus the inclusion of some lovely new spoke choices - some lighter, some more aero, and some in superb new colours to make your bike simply stunning!

The front 55 is coupled with our ultra-deep rear 80mm deep rear - to minimise drag and off course to give you every watt of power.

The 55/80's are built around our modern "semi U" shaped structural carbon semi-toroidal aero rim. designed to run best with 25c to 40c wide tyres).  The rim is designed to cut through the air going forward, whilst maintaining a superb lateral integrity to cross-winds across a full range of wind "yaw" angles.

In terms of rim width we think we've really hit the sweet spot at 23-24mm wide. We carefully explored all of the many possible widths that aero wheels are being developed in. We developed and continually honed our own testing protocols to this effect - and critically we looked at a whole raft of practical issues too that many rim makers simply overlook. For example frame spacing: Yes its possible to go wider than 23-24mm but at what point do wheels begin to compromise the frame. The last thing you want is to find that your carbon wheels rub your frame the moment you get out of the saddle! 23-24mm wide is in our view the best blend of performance and practical usability in our experience.

Unlike the vast majority of carbon deep-section aero wheelsets, the K1-55/80c's are also designed to be super-strong. Perfect for racing and still strong enough to train on. Within the carbon rim is a structural alloy cross section that gives these wheels hugely enhanced strength compared to most carbon wheels on the market.

This is by no means our lightest wheelset! This is because we have gone for strength, durability, and of course aerodynamics - as our primary objectives. Carbon wheels are a big investment after all and there seem to be very few carbon wheels on the market which are designed in this way and with these objectives in mind!

Wheels fettled and given fiery baptism. Course PB and top ten placing. I reckon worth 20-30 secs over 10m. They look the business too.

Recently purchased a set of wheels for my TT bike after a long discussion with Andy at Kinetic - One who was really helpful and pleased to chat. Who can argue with the price? Yes I know there are better known names out there (with much higher price tags) and there are lighter weight ones out there (you know we've all heard the arguments for and against wheel weight). Having now ridden these wheels on a local 10 TT, I have a number of conclusions; they look fantastic ... they sound fantastic (maybe not disc sounding fantastic but hey!) ... they will help me go faster ... they are more than worth the money. I trust and hope these wheels will see me good for a while but am assured by the fact that any issues I know Kinetic - One will be more than happy to help out. Can't praise the wheels or the service enough - K1 wheels are comparable with the best at a fraction of the price.

I'd been searching for a new pair of wheels for my TT bike for a number of months prior to finding Kinetic One. These wheels met all my requirements and the service from Andy has been fantastic. I wanted a pair of aero wheels that I'd be able to use in all weather conditions as well as being fast! I've had them on my TT bike for a month now and they feel and look fantastic. At a recent standard distance triathlon I was 10 mins quicker on the 40km bike and finished just outside the top 10 overall. I was using a different bike (and more training) than the previous last year but I'm sure the wheels helped. I'll be using them for IMUK in July with the confidence that they will be fast and reliable.
